An agreement reached with the US Soccer Federation is designed to provide equal pay and prize money for men's and women's team players who participate in international matches. The changes come as a result of collective bargaining agreements reached three months after the settlement of a gender discrimination lawsuit brought by a group of women's team players.

Executives have been on the receiving end of large retention awards as large US companies look to compensate them for their leadership and improve retention. The awards typically consist of stock and money beyond standard compensation plans, with Coca-Cola, Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Tyson Foods among the firms providing retention awards to executives in the 2021 fiscal year.

The median CEO cash compensation rose from $3.1 million in 2020 to $4.1 million in 2021, with a full pay package rising from $13.4 million to $14.7 million, the sixth straight annual record, according to data from MyLogIQ. The top pay package went to Expedia CEO Peter Kern at $296 million followed by David Zaslav of Warner Bros. Discovery and Bill McDermott of ServiceNow.

Some employers are using technology to monitor workers to help identify insider threats. Some observers question the ethics of this tactic, but Chris Grijalva, senior technical director at Peraton, defends it saying, "People are starting to understand that the insider threat is a business problem and should be handled accordingly."
The typical hybrid work setup -- with employees working a few days in the office and a few days at home -- is flawed, as it still restricts flexibility, says Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky. Instead, Airbnb gets together one or two weeks each quarter to do things that can't be done virtually, such as key relationship building, Chesky says.

I recently hired two editors and am now gearing up to hire another one. It’s a long process and work doesn’t stop while you’re doing it. New programs launch, existing projects need attention and challenges arise that call for your intervention. Juggling it all can be maddening.
So delegate, people say. That seems the obvious solution but as it turns out, it’s not. When you’re shorthanded, you’re shorthanded. There are fewer people to do the work. And when the workload grows, you’re faced with a new problem. How do you assign work to people whose plates are already overloaded?

Reprioritizing some tasks and rethinking project and production schedules are good places to start. What tasks -- and meetings! -- can be eliminated? Or reduced? Can we get some wiggle room on some deadlines? Can a project scheduled for a June 1 start move to a June 15 start?
