There’s a notion that dining out in Dubai is pretty pricey. And, I'm not going to lie to you... it definitely can be.

There are, of course, wonderful budget eateries that Time Out Dubai recommends (Dampa, Calicut Paragon and Mama’esh spring to mind). But every once in a while, you want to dress up, look good, eat well and have a nice experience.

After many years (over 30 to be exact) of living in the UAE and dining around its cities for less, here are some of the lessons you should take note of:

A great way to tackle Dubai’s fine-dining scene, without breaking the bank is to try a business lunch at your favourite spot. Yes, it's not always convenient to leave the office in the middle of the day, but it's a fantastic hack to get more for less.

Because you’re telling me that I can get a three-course meal at Zuma, La Petite Maison Dubai and L’Atelier Robuchon for under Dhs200 per person?

Say less. I’m in.

Another hack comes in the shape of an early-bird dinner deal. The first one to tick off is the Taste of Roka offer which gives the chance to try a four-course (early) Japanese dinner for only Dhs195 per person.

Then there's the Prime68 sunset scenario, which features a three-course meal for just over Dhs200 per person (a menu that features both Australian striploin and truffle gnocchi).

And the best part is... you're in bed by 9pm. But that's just the tip of the iceberg...

From the best all-you-can-eat breakfasts in the city to a Dhs165 Nobu lunch, the Dubai deals aplenty.
