We understand that the Bay Area’s current shelter-at-home mandate and temporary school closures mean many of us are looking for at-home learning opportunities. 

KQED is here to help.

In partnership with our Southern California colleagues at PBS SoCal, KCET and the Los Angeles Unified School District, we have developed a suite of TV and digital learning resources, free for all to access on KQED Plus and at www.kqed.org/education/athomelearning.

We are running educational programming aligned with current state standards each weekday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on our KQED Plus channel. This TV schedule was developed to help schools and districts bridge the digital divide and provide equitable access to learning for all students at home, regardless of access to computers or the internet.

If you have Comcast cable in San Jose or San Francisco, KQED Plus can be found on channel 710. Check with your local cable provider to determine the channel number for KQED Plus. You can also view KQED Plus over-the-air with an antenna, on channels 9.2 or 54.

We are programming age-appropriate blocks in the current schedule:

• Pre-K-3rd grade from 6:00 am - 8:00 am
• 4th-8th grades from 8:00 am - 1:00 pm
• 9th-12th grades from 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm
• Visit the KQED Plus TV schedule

For children aged 0 - 4, regularly scheduled PBS KIDS programming is available streaming 24/7 via the PBS KIDS app.

Here are more ways to keep students engaged at home:

• PBS KIDS for Parents offers free resources and information from articles like How to talk with your kids about coronavirus to family learning activities. All PBS KIDS for Parents content is created by expert educators and child development professionals and vetted by PBS.
• Sign up for the PBS KIDS for Parents daily newsletter for tips, tools and support while children are home from school.
• Parents can also sign up for PBS LearningMedia to design at home learning across grade levels.

Bay Area Teens: KQED wants to hear from Bay Area teens about their experience of school closures and sheltering-in-place. Submit audio by Friday, March 27 at 5pm PDT.
