Time Out No. #69 | Tuesday 3 August 2021

Wait, how is it August already? That’s not fair. The summer is ebbing away! We’ve been looking forward to this since last March and now time is slipping through our fingers like sand. Probably the best course of action is to not waste a single moment of August. (Never too early to start planning for the bank holiday, either.)

Three sandwiches to eat this week

Bodega Rita’s sadly closed its King’s Cross spot last year, but thankfully it now has a shiny new home in Clerkenwell. Don’t miss ‘The Tony’ – a sub stuffed with pesto, prosciutto, salami, smoked cheddar, pickled chilli mayo, giardiniera pickles and, the pièce de résistance: cheese dust.

After being closed for one and a half years (!), this legendary Crouch Hill spot has reopened. Now’s your chance to reacquaint yourself with Max’s incredible ham, egg ‘n’ chips sarnie. Tip: get some mac ‘n’ cheese balls too.

The Dusty Knuckle’s Dalston spot had queues around the block for takeaway sarnies in lockdown – and for good reason. They’ve just opened a new branch on Green Lanes, too. Run, don’t walk, to try their classic porchetta sandwich.

Here we go. Here we bloody go. London’s West End is starting to really build up a head of steam. Momentum is palpable. The stage, it’s fair to say, is about to have a post-pandemic moment. Royal satire, a Cole Porter classic, Shakespeare at the Globe and Lily Allen’s theatre debut. Grab yourself a ticket and be part of history.
