"[A shared governance structure] needs continuous care, attention, advocacy, and that 'care-and-feeding' piece to make it successful." — Peg Gagne, MSN, RN, chief nursing officer, University of Vermont Medical Center

The result was an inclusive approach that required active engagement of clinical nursing staff in shared decision-making.

For this week's lead story, I talked to Peg Gagne, MSN, RN, the hospital's chief nursing officer, who was on the redesign team, about what makes the new structure work so well.
