Surveys indicate the use of artificial intelligence to monitor employees' communications and computer use has a negative effect on performance and mental health. "When employees feel they are not cared for or trusted by their employers, they are likely to have lower levels of commitment to the organization and perceive lower levels of psychological safety and higher levels of stress, all negatively affecting the relationship between employees and their employers, and specifically their managers and supervisors," says Leslie Hammer, an Oregon Health & Science University professor.

Some corporate leaders and coaching professionals say that employees can be most effective at work if they aim for about 85% productivity instead of going for 100%, overstressing themselves and then burning out.
