How to make REAL strawberry shortcakes
and PERFECT scones!
Dennis Weaver
There's nothing wrong with strawberries and whipped cream on a soft cake--that is, until you've tried REAL shortcakes!

The contrast between soft billowy whipped cream, ripe strawberries and a crisp shortcake is sensational.

Real shortcakes are very biscuit-like. An additional couple of tablespoons of sugar will make them barely sweet. (Our favorite variation is with ground almonds and a bit of almond flavor.)

But seriously, it's quicker to make biscuits than a cake and your family will love REAL shortcakes!
Make them once. Enjoy them for a month. (Never have leftovers again!)

Rather than store leftover biscuits and scones, try this hack. You can have fresh, hot biscuits all month!

Make your mix per instructions but only bake what you need. Put the rest of your cut unbaked scones in a large plastic bag and freeze them. Later, take out the prepared scones that you need and bake those. Save the rest for later. Our scone mixes make up to 24. Use them all over the course of a month.

If your mix has frosting--most do--mix that and keep the remainder in the refrigerator.
