So you think you need a popcorn popper? Not really. You can pop it on a pan on the stove. - Use a heavy pan that distributes heat evenly.
- It needs a lid.
- Choose a big pan. A quarter cup of popcorn kernels yields about two quarts.
Pour in just enough vegetable oil to cover the bottom of the pan. Heat the oil on medium high until it is hot. (If it starts to smoke, it's too hot.) Add the popcorn kernels and shake the pan to coat the kernels with oil. Cover with the lid. Let the popcorn pop. The corn will begin to pop in 3 minutes. When the popping slows to a pop every other second (count the seconds), remove the pan from the heat and lift the lid to allow the steam to escape away from your face. Be careful-the steam may burn. That's it.
