Indigenous Voices Leading the Conversation on Climate

The inaugural Aspen Ideas: Climate wrapped up last week, bringing together hundreds of leaders across disciplines to interact with an engaged audience of environmental thinkers and activists. Among the standout conversations from the event was a talk with Nikki Pitre (Coeur d’Alene Tribe), executive director of the Center for Native American Youth at the Aspen Institute, and Owen Oliver (Quinault and Isleta Pueblo), Director of Arts and Culture for Headwater People Consulting. Too often the conversation and investment in climate solutions leaves out Indigenous peoples, "the voices that have been the Earth’s strongest advocates since time immemorial," says Pitre.
