HRSA is awarding nearly $23 million to 46 grantees to plan and develop new Teaching Health Center primary care residency training programs in community-based settings. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), awarded nearly $23 million to 46 grantees to plan and develop Teaching Health Center residency programs in community-based settings. While the Teaching Health Center Graduate Medical Education (THCGME) Program has existed for over a decade, the Biden-Harris Administration is the first to invest in the startup costs of planning and developing new Teaching Health Center primary care residency programs. Fifteen winners spanning 10 states each received $20,000 for their innovative ideas to enhance access to care, improve care coordination, and address social determinants of health among HRSA-supported health centers. Its a day to recognize the impact of HIV on youth. TheRyan WhiteHIV/AIDS Program is committed raising HIV awareness, providing care, and supporting the unique needs of youth people with HIV. In 2021, 82.7% of young people aged 13-24 in the program were virally suppresses, a big increase from 46.6% in 2010. This means they cannot transmit HIV, and can also live healthier lives. To celebrate this years NPPW, Dr. Sara Kinsman, Director of MCHBs Division of Child Adolescent and Family Health, along with other members of the NPPW Council, gathered at Americas Poison Centers to recognize the winners of a childrens artwork contest that raises awareness about poisons. Dr. Kinsman congratulated the students for being poison prevention champions and highlighted HRSAs role in funding poison centers across the country, establishing the national toll-free number (1-800-222-1222), and educating the public through a national media campaign. | The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) released a funding opportunity to support testing interventions that screen for and address adverse social determinants of health (SDoH) during a health care visit. Patients social needs can be addressed by resources located at external social service organizations or co-located in the healthcare system. The proposed pilot should lay the foundation for larger clinical trials to integrate social care and medical care with the goal of improving health outcomes and reducing disparities related to the prevention or treatment of diseases within the mission of NIDDK.
