SAMMIES People's Choice Award: Top 6 Finalists

SAMMIES award winners 2023

A team of HRSA rural health expertsis among the finalists for the prestigious Samuel J. Heyman Service to America Medal, known as the Sammies, in the Management Excellence category through the Partnership for Public Service.

Megan Meacham, Allison Hutchings and Sarah ODonnell from the Federal Office of Rural Health Policy are credited for their work on the Rural Communities Opioid Response Program (RCORP) that since its launch in 2018 has helped fund care networks in remote areas, many for the first time.The team have been instrumental in bringing opioid and substance use prevention and recovery services to over 1,800 rural counties across 47 states.

The HRSA team is also a Top 6 finalist for the organizationsPeoples Choice Award, with the winner selected through public voting. Both awards recognize exceptional career public service.

HRSA Announces More than $23 Million for National Training and Technical Assistance Partners

HRSA has awarded approximately $23.5 million in fiscal year (FY) 2023 National Training and Technical Assistance Partner (NTTAP) Cooperative Agreements funding.

This funding will support 22 NTTAPs in developing and delivering training and technical assistance (T/TA) to health centers on specific topics, such as a population or an aspect of health center operations. Examples of topics include:

  • Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander Communities
  • Clinical Quality Improvement and Patient Safety (new NTTAP type for 2023)
  • Health Workforce Recruitment and Retention
  • Individuals or Families Experiencing Homelessness
  • Residents of Public Housing

Provider Relief Fund Reporting Period 5

The Provider Relief Fund (PRF) Reporting Portal is open from Saturday, July 1 toSaturday, September 30, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. ET.

Providers who received one or more PRF (General or Targeted) and/or American Rescue Plan Rural payments exceeding $10,000, in the aggregate, from January 1 to June 30, 2022 must report on their use of funds during Reporting Period 5 to comply with PRF Reporting Requirements.

Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) Program Infographic and Program Brief

HRSA released an updated infographic and program brief for the MIECHV Program.

In FY 2022, the MIECHV Program served approximately 138,000 parents and children in more than 69,000 families and provided more than 840,000 home visits.

Home visiting helps prevent child abuse and neglect, supports positive parenting, improves maternal and child health, and promotes child development and school readiness.
