HSEâs Asbestos and You campaign urges tradespeople working in construction to be aware of disturbing asbestos. Find out if you know enough to protect yourself and others from exposure to asbestos fibres by taking the Asbestos and You quick quiz.  You can share your results with others on social media and with those you work with to see how they do. Last month we held a webinar in partnership with The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH). This webinar is now available to watch for free on YouTube when itâs convenient to you.  From the 1-hour long webinar youâll get an understanding of HSEâs Asbestos and You campaign and hear from experts who discuss the risks that continue to be associated with asbestos, particularly with younger workers. Speakers include: - Louise Hosking, IOSHâs Immediate Past President as chairÂ
- Archie Mitchell, HSE Head of Asbestos Unit for Building Safety & Construction Division
- Liam Bradley from Bauder Ltd, who shares his experience of living with pleural mesothelioma, a cancer caused by asbestos exposure
- Nathanael Challacombe of the IOSH Construction Group
Help raise awareness that asbestos didnât disappear when it was banned in the UK and remains in places that you might not expect. Join the many organisations supporting the Asbestos and You campaign by downloading the campaign toolkit and resources to share with your networks. Although not asbestos-related, you may be interested to know that HSE are carrying out a targeted health inspection initiative, from Monday 15 May to Friday 14 July. This focuses on the respiratory risks to construction workers from exposure to silica and wood dust.  See more information and advice for employers, workers and small builders to work safely: |
