New HSE asbestos podcast launched

In January 2024, HSE launched the ‘Asbestos – Your Duty’ campaign to highlight the risk of asbestos in buildings and raise awareness of the legal duty to manage those risks.

This podcast episode is the late
st campaign resource to help support those with a legal
duty to manage asbestos in their buildings.

In the podcast, HSE’s Samantha Lord (Principal Specialist Inspector) and Tim Beaumont (Asbestos Cluster Lead) discuss the risks of asbestos and the steps to managing asbestos effectively in non-domestic buildings.

They are joined by Craig Barker, the Group property FHS and Asbestos Manager at Marks & Spencer who shares practical examples of how the retailer manages asbestos across its estate.

Asbestos and You – updated quick guide for trades

HSE’s Asbestos and You campaign urges tradespeople to stay aware of hidden asbestos and protect themselves and others from exposure to asbestos fibres during their work.

Every tradesperson is likely to undertake work in a building that
contains asbestos at some point. Those carrying out repairs or refurbishment work are at a higher risk of disturbing asbestos, especially when working in houses built before the year 2000.
