HSE inspectors are carrying out a targeted health inspection initiative focusing on the respiratory risks to construction workers from exposure to silica and wood dust. Inspections across Great Britain will be ongoing until 14 July. As part of our Dust Kills campaign in support of the inspection initiative, we have partnered with construction and occupational health organisations to support the construction industry. Occupational lung disease is preventable - lets work together to keep our construction workers safe and healthy. HSEs Safety Climate Tool (SCT) The SCT is proactively used by over 200 organisations in both the UK and overseas to measure and improve their safety culture. The SCT has been carefully designed by scientists to assess the attitudes of individuals within an organisation towards health and safety issues and is used and trusted by organisations of all sizes, across all industry sectors. Organisations often report that because of using SCT, they have achieved greater engagement and commitment to health and safety from employees, have reduced the number of accidents at work, reduced costs and have demonstrated better leadership.
