HSE builds support to protect trades mental health

HSEs Working Minds campaign welcomes 6 new partners across the construction industry to help reach trades and offer free support.

Working Minds helps employers prevent stress and support good mental health, providing free online learning and resources.

This includes our new bitesize learning, which covers what the law requires of employers and whats needed to do to be compliant.

Joining the campaign this month are the Asbestos Removal Contractors Association (ARCA), the Contract Flooring Association (CFA), the Chartered Institute of Plumbing and Heating Engineering (CIPHE), the Electrical Contractors Association (ECA), the National Federation of Demolition Contractors (NFDC) and the National Federation of Roofing Contractors (NFRC).

If you or someone you know needs help or support, reach out and ask how they are feeling and coping.

  • who the dutyholder is, depending on the type of building etc, and what they must do
  • new templates of an asbestos management plan and an asbestos register with a site plan
  • examples of how asbestos can be managed across different industries

The campaign provides dutyholders with a range of resources. You can:

HSE has made recent updates to 2 publications on first aid at work:

  • First aid at work: Guidance on regulations (L74)
This publication sets out what you need to do to address first aid provision in the workplace. The updates include emphasising employers responsibilities to take account of employees mental health in their first aid needs assessment

The updates do not change what is required to comply with the law.
