This week (13 to 19 May) is Mental Health Awareness Week - support our Working Minds campaign to raise awareness of how to promote good mental health at work. Around half of all work-related ill health is due to stress, depression, or anxiety. Employers have a responsibility to identify the risks of stress and act on them to improve conditions at work, which might mean making adjustments and helping someone manage a mental health problem at work. Find out about the practical resources, support and guidance available: Read about our latest Working Minds campaign partners (including Scaffolding Association)or find out more about the support available to the construction sector. Asbestos and You Our Asbestos and You campaign urges tradespeople to stay aware of hidden asbestos and protect themselves and others from exposure to asbestos fibres during their work. Every tradesperson is likely to carry out work in a building that contains asbestos at some point. Those carrying out repairs or refurbishment are at a higher risk of disturbing asbestos, especially when working in houses built before the year 2000. For more information about what to look for and what to do when you come across asbestos, download our updated quick guide for trades.
Asbestos - Your Duty HSEs Asbestos Your Duty campaign highlights the risk of asbestos in buildings and raises awareness of the legal duty to manage those risks. As part of the campaign resource material available, a new podcast has been launched to help support those with a legal duty to manage asbestos in their buildings. To hear about the risks of asbestos and the steps required to manage it effectively in non-domestic buildings, listen to the Asbestos Your Duty podcast.
