World Mental Health Day, 10 October, has been celebrated for over 30 years, and whilst awareness and acceptance of mental health may be increasing â so is the number of people affected by stress, anxiety and depression at work. HSEâs Working Minds campaign is helping to drive culture change across Britainâs workplaces, where recognisingâ¯and respondingâ¯to the signs of stress become asâ¯routine as managing workplace safety.   Although more and more people are becoming aware of mental health, many still aren't getting the right support. Founding Working Minds partner, Mind charity, urge that âawareness is just the start, itâs time to act.â  Employers have a legal duty to ensure risks of stress and mental ill-health are factored into health and safety risk assessments and acted upon.   For guidance on managing workplace stress and talking to workers about it: You can keep up to date on our Working Minds campaign by signing up to our monthly ebulletin. Three new partners have joined to launch HSE's Working Minds campaign in the entertainment and leisure sector: - The Mark Milsome Foundation
- The Association of British Theatre Technicians
- The British Association of Leisure Parks, Piers and Attractions.
In the Looking Glass â22 survey conducted by the Film and TV Charity only 11% described the industry as a mentally healthy place to work.  By its very nature, the industry is fast-paced and changeable with many being self-employed, freelancers or contracted for set amounts of time and there can be lots of uncertainty and long and unsociable hours.  Find out more about support available for people working in these sectors.
