| Date issued: 19 April 2024 An independent pesticides regulatory regime is in operation in Great Britain (England, Scotland and Wales). This ebulletin includes information relating to the Plant Protection Products (PPP) regulations in Great Britain (GB). |
| HSE has developed new guidance on the efficacy requirements for products containing actives seeking to achieve low-risk status as defined in Article 47(1) of assimilated Regulation 1107/2009 (and amended in Commission Regulation 2017/1432). HSE will now accept submissions of reduced efficacy data packages for low-risk plant protection products, ahead of the active substance(s) achieving low-risk status. This is in recognition that product data packages are predominantly generated before and during the consideration of the active substance. The new guidance is available todownload from our website. Attention is drawn to the EPPO standard 1/296 (1) principles of efficacy evaluation for low-risk plant protection products. If the active substance is subsequently approved without meeting the low-risk criteria, then the applicant will be asked to address the requirement for a full data package for the product. It is therefore at the applicants own risk if they wish to submit reduced efficacy data packages ahead of the regulatory conclusion on the low-risk status of the active substance; but the approach is to encourage the entry of low-risk plant protection products for use in GB. |
