Huawei Technologies would prefer to keep using Android in its smartphones but with the launch yesterday of HarmonyOS its own open source cross platform operating system, the Chinese telecoms giant has signalled that it is not prepared to take US sanctions against the company lying down.

Proposed changes to the regulation of international mobile roaming (IMR) services will come into effect in the Australian telecoms sector in January next year under draft changes put forward by the telecommunications regulator, the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA).

Chinese telecommunications equipment provider ZTE and telecommunications carrier China Mobile have collaborated to deliver China’s first 5G sporting event with the broadcast of the country’s 2nd National Youth Games.

The president of Huawei subsidiary smartphone brand Honor, George Zhao, took to the stage at the Huawei Developers Conference to launch the company’s first smart screen product, which as he pointed out is the first product at the company to be powered by Huawei’s new HarmonyOS operating system, as well as a gaggle of Huawei home grown hardware.

Korean crypto payments startup Human Plus has signed an exclusive business agreement with telecommunications services provider and merchant terminal company KIS Information Communications which it says will allow its payment solution to be implemented at 420,000 locations in the Seoul area alone - and to expand and diversify its services nationally across Korea.

Global ICT services provider Keysight Technologies has launched 5G network emulation solutions which it says deliver a “leading number” of 5G new radio (NR) protocol conformance test cases validated by the Global Certification Forum (GCF) and PTCRB, a certification forum consisting of US mobile operators.
