The world first learned of the incredible vocal artistry of Cécile McLorin Salvant when she won the prestigious 2010 Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition. In just under the span of a decade she has evolved from a darling of jazz critics and fans, to a multi GRAMMY® Award winner, to a prescient and fearless voice in music today.

In anticipation of his August 9th release of Life Changes, Tim Ries teams up with a quintet of Colorado’s finest instrumentalists to perform his new music. Ries has held down the saxophone and keyboard chairs with The Rolling Stones for the past 21 years, all the while espousing his love of jazz on his own projects and shows.

Danilo Brito (Mandolin) Carlos Moura (7-String Guitar)

In his first visit to Colorado, Danilo will bring repertoire from his latest album Da Natureza das Coisas, in addition to traditional choro compositions. He will be accompanied by 7-string guitarist Carlos Moura. Together, the duo will lead the audience on a special musical experience of the “more-often-bright-than-blue” choro, as well as Danilo’s new artistic exploration of the unique sounds of Brazilian music.
