Good Morning, Do! Today is Friday, February 19 Time to wear a bit of red to show your support for the troops! ___________________________________________________ If you can spare a coin, PLEASE hit PayPal with it! ___________________________________________________ Woman, 2 children found suffering severe neglect. Husband in jail now ___________________________________________________ Today, February 18 in 2004 Former Enron Corp. chief executive Jeffrey Skilling was charged with fraud, insider trading and other crimes in connection with the energy trader's collapse. Skilling was later convicted and sentenced to more than 24 years in prison. ____________________________________________________ Those who are too smart to engage in politics are punished by being governed by those who are dumber. --- Plato, ancient Greek Philosopher ____________________________________________________ Thanks to Mary N for this one: Thought for the day: Any CEO caught using corporate funds for his own personal gains should be charged with impersonating a politician. ____________________________________________________ Many a golfer prefers a golf cart to a caddy because the cart cannot count, criticize or laugh. ____________________________________________________ Harbin Ice Festival ___________________________________________________ The young woman really thought she'd been very patient, through a protracted period of dating with no talk of marriage. One night her steady boyfriend took her to a Chinese restaurant. As he perused the menu, he casually asked her, "So . . . how do you like your rice? Boiled? Or fried?" Without missing a beat, she looked over her menu at him and replied clearly, "Thrown." __________________________________________________ An INTERNATIONAL BONEHEAD AWARD has been earned by Bryan Snow, Blue Springs, Kansas City Missouri, USA Woman, 2 children found suffering severe neglect A suburban Kansas City man has been charged after emergency responders found his girlfriend and their two children suffering from severe neglect, Jackson County prosecutors said. Jackson County Fire Protection District responders found a 27-year-old woman in a waste-filled bathtub at a Blue Springs home on Friday, according to a probable cause statement from Blue Springs police. Police said the twin girls were severely malnourished. They said their father locked them in a closet for a long time and frequently punished them, the statement said. The suspect, identified as Bryan Snow, told police he put the woman in a bathtub because she has multiple sclerosis. He said he worked for two days and checked on her on the third day. Snow was charged with two counts of first-degree endangering the welfare of a child/creating a substantial risk, and second-degree domestic assault. The family had several contacts with social services last year, The Independence Examiner reported. A Missouri Department of Social Services spokeswoman did not respond to a message seeking comment.
DearWebby's Tech Support Pits From:Trevor Re: Defrag large drive Dear Webby we got a new computer in the office with a 2 TB hard drive. How often should that drive be defragged? I'm afraid it will take a whole shift to do that. Trevor Dear Trevor UNused parts of the drive defrag really quickly. Use Partition Magic to partition the drive. You need a small 2 - 3 GB partition for Windows and software, and a few partitions for data. I imagine the reason for the huge drive is to store incoming faxes. If those are just viewed and printed but not annotated or edited, then they don't change in size and rarely need defragging. That way you can just quickly defrag the small partition where Windows keeps changing things. If you don't partition your drive into a system and a data partition, then the rule that "the bigger the drive, the more often it needs to be defragged", applies. Have FUN! DearWebby

Jolene had wanted new kitchen cabinets for a long time, but her husband insisted they were an extravagance. She went to visit her mother for two weeks, and when she returned, she was overjoyed to find that beautiful new cabinets had been installed in her kitchen. A few days later, a neighbor came over to visit and mentioned, "We were sure glad that the fire your husband had while you were gone was confined to the kitchen, and that he was able to clean up the mess before you got back!" ____________________________________________ Nancy knelt in the confessional and said, "Bless me, Father, for I have sinned." "What is it, child?" "Father, I have committed the sin of vanity. Twice a day I gaze at myself in the mirror and tell myself how beautiful I am." The priest turned, took a good look at her, and said, "Nancy, I have good news. That isn't a sin - it's only a mistake. You probably need new glasses." ____________________________________________ A drummer got bored with his instrument and decided to take up the accordion instead. Walking into a music shop, he spotted one he liked and asked the shopkeeper, "how much is that accordion by the wall?" The shopkeeper looked at him and said, "You're a drummer, aren't you?" "Yes, how did you know?" he said. "That's the radiator." ____________________________________________
