An 83-year-old pro-life volunteer from Ionia County, Mich., was shot during an apparent dispute while canvassing a neighborhood. The woman, who was handing out pamphlets on behalf of Right to Life of Michigan (RLM) on Sept. 20, was shot in the shoulder after an "alleged verbal altercation" at a home in the area, per police. RLM says the woman was shot "while leaving a residence during a heated conversation" by a man who was not involved in the conversation and that the victim does not know the shooter's identity or motive. First Christian Church in Oklahoma City, Okla., a historic church often referred to as the "egg church" because of its distinctive dome shape, was destroyed Monday by a demolition crew, KOCO 5 News, reports. City officials told local news outlets they received a permit approving the demolition last Friday, but some locals are expressing dismay over the quick decision. "I think that the city owes us an apology," historic preservation activist Mark Faulk told KOCO. "You get it approved at 8:01 and they’re tearing it down at 8:02." Read more.

Italy has elected Giorgia Meloni, its first female prime minister, whose focus on protecting the institution of the family and national identity has caused some media outlets to compare her ideology to "fascism." Meloni, the leader of the Brothers of Italy party, is set to become the next prime minister after her party won 26% of the vote in Sunday's Italian general election. Despite Brothers of Italy's roots dating back to the post-World War II post-fascist Italian Social Movement, mainstream media outlets have tied Meloni and her party to fascism, with conservative political commentator Ann Coulter pointing out that a New York Times article used the word "fascist" or "fascism" 28 times when discussing the possibility of a Meloni victory. Meloni, meanwhile, has lamented what she views as attacks on "national identity," "religious identity," "gender identity" and "family identity." She expressed concern that "I can't define myself as Italian, Christian, woman, mother" but instead must define herself as "citizen x, gender x, parent 1, parent 2," and noted, "I must be a number. During a speech at the Awana Child Discipleship Forum on Friday, Transformation Church Pastor Derwin Gray rejected the idea of "colorblindness" and said churches must focus on the importance of the "race of grace" that all people should belong to. Drawing comparisons from the movie "Encanto" where the family in the film said, "we don't talk about Bruno," Gray explained that churches in the U.S. often say, "we don't talk about race." He lamented that few American Christians actually belong to a "true multiethnic church," saying that "the most divided institution in America is Jesus’ Church ... Anne van der Bijl, the Dutch missionary known for smuggling Bibles into communist nations and founding the Christian persecution watchdog group Open Doors, has died at age 94. Commonly known as "Brother Andrew," van der Bijl passed away on Tuesday. "God used Andrew's obedience and prayers to change millions of lives and eternities.
