By KELLY P. KISSEL | Metro editor Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome has turned to a former National Guard major general to lead her administration. Glenn Curtis will replace Darryl Gissel next week, as Gissel devotes more time to his real estate business. Curtis brings a mix of "professionalism and leadership" to the office, Broome says. Curtis served as adjutant general in the Bobby Jindal and John Bel Edwards administration. He served in Iraq in 2004, where he helped modernize the country's infrastructure after it was damaged by war. Louisiana's unemployment rate has hit a record low again. Baton Rouge's number is even lower than the state average. Hurricane season ends tonight at midnight.
