Storm season leaves experts puzzled

Off base: Many meteorologists and climate researchers predicted 2024 would be one of the most active hurricane seasons in modern history. So far, those forecasts have been a big swing and a miss.

“I haven’t seen a year where the conditions were so conducive flopping so miserably," Philip Klotzbach, a senior research scientist at Colorado State University, said of the 2024 Atlantic hurricane season.
