| From Buddhism to rebel kids, uncover something amazing at the British Library | | Seeking a culture fix this season? The British Library has vast, diverse collections to explore – and some of the most captivating subjects under one roof. Here are two exhibitions happening this autumn that you won’t wanna miss…
‘Buddhism’
Until February 23 2020
Found your inner peace yet? No? Well, you’re a Londoner, we get it. But if you do fancy a slice of the serene, head to the British Library’s ‘Buddhism’ exhibition. You’ll discover colourful scrolls, decorative artefacts and intricately designed books from 20 countries, as well as sacred texts written on various materials (bark, palm leaves and gold plates) and incredible silk scrolls. Basically, if you want to learn more about the origins and principles of Buddhism, then go for a (respectful) nosy.
‘Marvellous and Mischievous: Literature’s Young Rebels’
From November 8 2019 until March 1 2020
Let’s be honest, our favourite characters are all pretty sparky – and children’s literature wouldn’t be complete without young rebels. We’re talking kids that stand up for themselves, for what’s right, and never give up. At this interactive, family-friendly exhibition, you’ll get a closer look at these characters, with Roald Dahl’s handwritten drafts of Matilda, iconic illustrations from Quentin Blake, and info about classics like The Secret Garden, Oliver Twist and Where the Wild Things Are. At ‘Marvellous and Mischievous’, kids kick ass. | |
