We are so excited to see Paul Bunyan: The Invention of An American Legend​ on the prestigious Bank Street College of Education's Best Books of the Year List! The book, which reconsiders the legend and its impact on forests and Indigenous peoples, has already racked up a slew of honors, from a starred Kirkus review to ​a Junior Library Guild Gold Standard Selection to and a California Reading Association Eureka! Honor Award win.

TOON books that have previously received this prestigious honor include: Chick and Chickie, Jack and the Box, Benny and Penny in The Toy Breaker, and Stinky​.

In the NYTimes Book Review, Sabrina Orah Mark considers how Liniers’ forthcoming TOON Graphic, Night Stories​, delightfully captures the shifting, playful, ad-lib, life-giving relationship between folk tales and the people who love to tell them: “Around [the children], Liniers draws soft, circular borders reminiscent of dream bubbles, as if the folk tales themselves are dreaming up the children retelling them. I’ve always believed we tell stories to survive, but maybe I’ve had it backward. Maybe folk tales dream us up so that they never die.”

On Saturday, June 8th, 2024, Liniers will be one of the headliners at the Boston Kids Comics Fest. His events include a workshop and two signing sessions. This is a great opportunity to meet Liniers and hear more about Night Stories​. And by the way, all of it's free! 

Liniers will have a workshop from 11am to 12pm and two signing sessions: one at 12-1pm, and one at 2-3pm.

Hey, ABA friends headed to Children's Institute from June 10th to 12th: cartoonist Ben Sears will be signing books and sharing SUPER advance peeks at Hearing Things​, his spine-tingling graphic novel about Tim, his cat Frankie, his sister Martha, and Tim's quest to find the spookiest sounds in their neighborhood!
