Hydro-Québec expects energy demand to grow by 14% over next decade

Canadian utility Hydro-Quebec said it expects to need an additional 14% of energy capacity to meet demand growth between 2022-2032. The majority of that growth, 7.8 terawatt-hours (TWh), will come from electric vehicles. However, the company also expects to be able to offset 8.9 TWh through energy efficiency and demand response, much of that from a new smart home program called Hilo, which it launched last year.

The new electrical substation provides more power capacity to support future growth and operation of data centers in the region.
