I was a West Bank settler. This is why I refused to serve in the IDF

The week between Holocaust Remembrance Day and Memorial Day here in Israel is always somber. This year, much like last year, the mood extends into Independence Day as well. It's difficult to
properly commemorate the past
, and recognize those
who gave their lives for the present
, without giving
a good hard look at what type of future is being built for the people of this land
.
Indeed, the grief here is almost tangible, only amplified while the government continues to shirk its responsibility toward
those who were thrust on the front lines
.
Perhaps there is a shred of hope, whether it's by
young folks taking a stand
, by
leaders working to think outside of the box
, or by those
directly affected who continue to fight for a better future
for us all.
