Support freedom of the press. Support independent, non-profit journalism. Support KQED.

| John, It’s me, Kai Ryssdal. You probably know my voice from Marketplace where I report on economic news and “do the numbers” on the stock market—accompanied by “We’re in the Money” or “Stormy Weather” depending on the market’s behavior. But you may not know that I got my start in public broadcasting as a KQED intern. I’ll always be grateful to KQED for giving me a chance. That’s why I’m thrilled to help my friends in the Bay Area kick off their Spring Radio Pledge Drive. To start the drive strong, KQED has a special matching gift offer from Craig Newmark Philanthropies. In honor of World Press Freedom Day, your gift will be matched, up to $100,000. Please make your gift now! As a journalist and broadcaster, I consider freedom of the press to be one of the most critical elements of our country’s Constitution. It allows journalists to deliver critical information that holds those in power accountable and keeps people safe. I hope you can honor World Press Freedom Day with a special gift to your local public radio station, KQED.
KQED understands that it’s important to you to get uninterrupted access to the news you need. And so, to ensure minimal interruptions, they promise that the Spring Radio Pledge Drive will end as soon the fundraising goal of $1,500,000 is met. So, make your gift now to help end the drive early! Funding from this drive will sustain the programs you listen to every day. Your gift will support shows like Marketplace, The California Report Magazine, Forum and Morning Edition and maintain independent, non-profit journalism in the Bay Area. Thank you for being a part of the public media family.
| Sincerely, | | Kai Ryssdal Host and Senior Editor, Marketplace |
