Every Child Deserves a Safe Childhood
This Mother’s Day, we honor the mothers who have lost their children, those whose children have been exploited, and those that are still searching for their missing children.

We offer a special recognition to the amazing Team HOPE volunteers, who either were a missing or sexually exploited child; or who have experienced first-hand the agony of their child being missing or sexually exploited.

These brave, courageous and caring individuals provide peer support to countless people who are suffering the loss and trauma of a missing or exploited child.

We're here to help. Call 866-305-HOPE (4673) to talk to a Team HOPE member.

A Mother's Story: What Do You Do With a Kangaroo?

Ruth Parker recalls, with tears flowing, the many nights her two young sons, Charles and William, would ask her to read their favorite bedtime story to them.

Ruth ParkerNicknamed CJ and Billy, the toddlers had their specific story-telling roles when she was reading What Would You Do With a Kangaroo? Billy would say, “You throw them out”, but CJ would say, “No you don’t! You let them stay”. By the end of the story both boys were happy to hear their mom read that the kangaroos would always safely stay.

Sadly, Parker’s story doesn’t have a happy ending yet. She vividly recalls the day in October 1986 when her ex-husband Charles Vosseler failed to return 3-year-old CJ and 2-year-old Billy from a weekend visitation.

As a mother looking for her missing children, Parker knows that CJ and Billy may not realize that she’s been searching for them for more than three decades.

A few years ago, during a Mother’s Day Sunday church service, Parker’s pastor passed around flowers to all the mothers in attendance. While she bowed her head, and reflected on her sons, a flower appeared under her face. “The pastor leaned down and told me I was still a mom,”

Parker told her pastor, “Yes I am. I’m a mom until my last breath.

She still has their favorite story book.
