It's that time of year when summery pieces are starting to trickle into stores, tricking me into thinking my daffodils are about to bloom. Unfortunately, though, it's still very much winter where I live on the East Coast. That's why I'm being strategic about my wardrobe shopping and sticking to early spring styles that'll still make sense while the temps fluctuate.
Every season, I buy a new pair of denim, and the Kick It High Waist Fray Hem Ankle Straight Leg Jeans from Mother's latest drop is on my list. The straight-leg style hugs and cradles the butt (the cool-girl brand's trademark feature), while the light sanded wash feels fresh. Plus, the fabric offers just enough stretch to make it all day comfortable. I also love the frayed hemline, which contributes to the laid-back look.
They'll look great with the Cotton On All Day Crew, a perfectly fitted long-sleeved tee that I'm planning to stock up in every shade. It has just the right fit for layering (size up if you don't want a fitted look) or wearing solo. When it comes to kicks, I'm a Nike girl to the core. These Nike LD-1000 Sneakers in University Red, a throwback to Nike's iconic 1977 Athletics West running club, are calling my name. They also come in Pinksicle, perfect for any Valentine's Day-inspired looks.
And to finish off the look, khaki trench coats are going to be everywhere this spring. This hot-off-the-runway Burberry Long Castleford Trench Coat is my dream trench come true. Unfortunately, it's not in the budget. I found a similar style from London Fog, an American heritage brand over 100 years old (that is having a moment, IMO) at a fraction of the price. |
