The film and TV music community came out to learn from ASCAP screen music all-stars and industry insiders at Variety's Music for Screens Summit in Hollywood. ASCAP was an official partner of the inaugural event.
Nine Inch Nails mastermind Trent Reznor (Watchmen, The Social Network) dove deep into his scoring philosophy with co-composer Atticus Ross. Annie Lennox discussed her work with H. Scott Salinas on the upcoming biopic, A Private War.
The importance of diversity - of gender and nationality, as well as musical background and composing style - was a major theme of the High-Scorers - The Composer Roundtable, presented by ASCAP. The panel brought together ASCAP members Marco Beltrami (A Quiet Place, Logan), Tom Holkenborg (Mortal Engines, Mad Max: Fury Road) and Pinar Toprak (Captain Marvel, Fortnite) along with Terence Blanchard, Ramin Djawadi and Ludwig Göransson to discuss their recent work and the "state of the industry" of screen composing.
