The Australian Government has announced $5M in funding for bushfire related health research; doctors have warned of a possible increase in lung cancer due to bushfire smoke.

Research into the toxic effects of childhood cancer treatment show risk reduction efforts are benefiting patients. However, in a separate study, researchers found that the same survivors are five times more likely to develop a second primary cancer.

Strong evidence suggests Maori patients with cancer are more likely to die than other groups due to late diagnosis.
