Two programs in Florida are providing teaching hospitals one-time startup funding for expanding or starting new residencies. The GME Startup Bonus Program and the GME Retention Programs distribute $100 million in funding appropriated by the state legislature.
Louisiana State University (LSU) Shreveport will use a $1.2 million gift from the Medical Center Clinics, Inc., to create an endowment for LSU School of Medicine’s 29 resident and fellowship programs.
The annual program evaluation (APE), the formal process of reviewing residency and fellowship programs, is completed by the program evaluation committee (PEC). The purpose of the APE and PEC is to continually review aspects of the training program and track their progress.
