I’ve yo-yo dieted for the majority of my adult life (and even a large chunk of my teenage years). Admittedly I still struggle with it, even though I truly believe diets are toxic and incredibly unhelpful when it comes to improving your health. Recently, however, I stumbled upon a new-to-me concept called the “set point weight” theory. I think could be useful in my own life, and maybe for you, too. Even dietitians believe it can be a powerful tool that allows you to improve your relationship with food and your body. Here's what it means and how it may help you find peaceIf you relate to this issue, know this: What you perceive in the mirror doesn’t always reflect what’s true or what’s “healthy.” There’s more to your well-being than your weight. I’m hopeful that we’ll eventually delete any other mentality from our brains once and for all.

If I’m feeling stuck, I try to remove myself from the situation for a period of time. I find high energy exercise with music, like spin, can really help both lift my mood and clear my head. Often a breakthrough or more positive view will come to me. I also believe in the power of collaboration – some of the thorniest problems are best solved with the creative and supportive dynamics of working with others.
