Density quotients of one person per two square metres will soon be lifted for most venues.

From 28 May, venues of 400 sqm or below can have up to 200 people per space without any density limit, provided COVID Marshalls are on-site to ensure all patrons check in to each space. 

In addition, all venues and businesses required to undertake electronic record keeping must use the Victorian Government QR Code Service from 28 May 2021.

Are you a Business needing new staff? You may be eligible for a wage subsidy of up to $20,000 through the Jobs Victoria Fund if you employ people affected by the economic impacts of the pandemic.

Instant asset write-off extended

Businesses can continue to immediately write-off the full value of assets like work vehicles or equipment and offset any losses incurred up to June 2023. To check with your accountant or the ATO to see if your business is eligible, click here.

The Boosting Apprenticeship Commencements program

The Federal government extended the program to subsidise 50% of your new apprentices or trainees wages  Check if your new staff member is eligible here.

Melbourne Intermodal Terminal

The Federal Government allocated $2 billion towards a new Melbourne Intermodal Terminal in Truganina, just west of the Brimbank municipal boundary. The project has the potential to create up to 30,000 jobs in Melbourne’s west.

Make sure you’re adhering to the current COVID-19 restrictions

  • All businesses must have an active, up-to-date COVIDSafe Plan.
  • Keep accurate records and ensure your staff and visitors register their details for contact tracing.
  • All businesses must record contact details for anyone on their premises for 15 minutes or more, including staff, customers and suppliers.
  • Electronic record keeping is required for many venues to access the higher density limit of 1 person per 2sqm. The Victorian Government QR Code Service is easy to use and free.
  • Download and display signage to remind people of the need to check in, and other safety measures.
  • If you or your workers have even mild COVID-19 symptoms, please get tested.
