LUNG CANCER
November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month, a time to highlight the importance of recognising its signs and symptoms early and ongoing research.
Currently in Ireland, just 24% of people diagnosed with lung cancer will survive five years or more. With your incredible support, we are determined to change this, and that is why lung cancer is one of our research priorities.
One of our researchers, Clodagh Murphy at University College Dublin, is focused on improving outcomes for people with non-small cell lung cancer, a common form of lung cancer.

November is also Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month.
David Hackett, a PhD student you support, is dedicated to improving the diagnosis and treatment of pancreatic cancer.
As David explains - this is a cancer that currently has an extremely poor prognosis, but every breakthrough, big or small, takes us one step closer to changing that.

THE CHRISTMAS COUNTDOWN IS ON!
Renowned artist Fiona Turley has once again designed a stunning collection of Christmas cards for Breakthrough Cancer Research.
Over the past 18 years, Fiona’s beautiful designs have raised more than €300,000 to support cancer research in Ireland.
One of the researchers that you kindly support, Ciara Gavin, went along to Fiona’s studio to see how she designs the cards.
Ciara then followed their journey through to the local printers to watch how these magnificent designs are transformed into truly special Christmas cards which are printed on Shiro Echo paper which is 100% recycled paper and FSC® certified.
