Nov. 19, 2019
Another grey November day tomorrow. The next batch of rain and snow will arrive in Minnesota Wednesday night. Not-so-gloomy news is that it will be warm enough to mostly rain in the Twin Cities and southern Minnesota tomorrow night. Northern Minnesota may see 2 to 4 inches of accumulating snow by Thursday.
Today is World Toilet Day; How much do you know about toilet etiquette signage? Toilets can be a bit confusing for some folks. On this day in honor of the loo, we introduce you to some toilet etiquette signage you might have never seen nor heard of around the world.
Today is also when Americans made the second moon landing … but does anyone know? Fifty years ago, on Nov. 19, 1969, American astronaut Pete Conrad became the third human to set foot on the lunar surface. But unlike astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin’s Apollo 11 mission, not many people remember his mission, Apollo 12. And it's a shame, because it was, frankly, a really fun trip, a Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum curator says.
One more thing you shouldn’t miss: A rare meteor shower in Minnesota this week. How rare? There have been only four known outbursts of alpha Monocerotids in history. Its projected outburst in Minnesota skies late Thursday night will be short — 40 minutes tops. So don’t be late, or you might miss it.
What's something that happened this past year that you are grateful for? The cold winter season is a good time to remember everything we're grateful for. Help us spread those warm feelings of thanks by sharing your story!
