"Without a doubt, Socotra is one of the most special places on the planet." So says photographer and travel blogger Nicole Smoot, who has had the privilege of visiting this UNESCO-listed Yemeni island on half a dozen occasions.
"Every visit to the island has brought a completely different experience," she explains, "yielding new sites and perspectives on areas seen before, but also witnessing the environmental changes inflicted by cyclones, invasive species and, of course, humans."
