Hello again, LSU fans. As most of you know by now, Tigers coach Ed Orgeron starts the week by addressing the media before another episode of "Tell the Truth Monday," when his team puts its most recent game to bed. Orgeron was a little more upbeat during Monday's review than he had been in previous weeks, simply because LSU seemingly took another step forward since that season-opening loss to UCLA. This week, it was the 49-21 bouncing of Central Michigan that had Orgeron feeling a little better although the Tigers' sixth-year head coach said there is still a lot of work to do. Saying his team showed improvement, he noted that “we're not there yet” with its Southeastern Conference opener at Mississippi State set for Saturday. Orgeron said the 2-1 Tigers need to get better in certain areas if they want to build on back-to-back wins over McNeese State and CMU. Early in his teleconference, Orgeron was asked about the health of sixth-year defensive end Andre Anthony, who suffered an injury to his left leg in the first half against Central Michigan. Unfortunately, the news wasn't good as Orgeron confirmed that Anthony, who was off to a fast start, will be out for the remainder of the season. Of course, Orgeron takes time to preview the upcoming opponent as well. In looking at State, the 44-34 beating LSU took from the Bulldogs last Sept. 26 is still quite fresh in the memory of Orgeron and Advocate columnist Scott Rabalais as well. In other news, sophomore defensive end BJ Ojulari, who had 2½ sacks in the victory over Central Michigan, was honored Monday as the SEC's defensive player of the week. Also, get ready for a long day and night of tailgating, which is not a problem for the majority of LSU fans, for the Tigers' next home game. On Monday, the SEC announced its TV lineup for Oct. 2, which has LSU hosting Auburn at 8 p.m. in a game to be televised by ESPN. Have a great day, Sheldon Mickles |
