Improving mechanistic understanding of fast reactions using rapid, reproducible in situ analysis by stop-flow NMR and IR Mechanistic understanding allows informed control and optimization of reactions, so that by-products can be reduced, yields increased and reaction selectivity improved. However, if reactions are very fast, the reaction kinetics can be difficult to study and therefore mechanistic information hard to obtain. In this webinar, Forbes Professor of Organic Chemistry, Guy Lloyd-Jones, will discuss some of the problems associated with measuring the kinetics of fast reactions and how the stop-flow (SF) technique can be applied to NMR and IR, to allow reaction mechanisms to be investigated and reaction conditions optimized. |
