US defense strategy. On March 20, the Strobe Talbott Center for Security, Strategy, and Technology at Brookings hosted a discussion about the key challenges and opportunities for the future of U.S. defense strategy and spending, considering a rapidly evolving security and political landscape.

Achieving durable national security. On March 21, using historical examples, contemporary conflicts, and policy debates, Brookings experts Mara Karlin, Michael O’Hanlon, and Joshua Rovner discussed the different approaches of strategy and grand strategy.

Measuring impact in education. How do we define impact incollaborative research and initiatives in education? On Thursday, join the conversation with members of the Knowing-Doing Network who will share insights and explore approaches in impact measurement that are participatory and inclusive.  

 

BPEA spring 2025 conference. On March 27 and 28, tune in to the Brookings Papers on Economic Activity (BPEA), a semi-annual conference and journal that applies policy analysis to urgent economic challenges. This year’s conference topics include: China’s economic growth targets and macro regulation, the response of labor migration to economic shocks, the U.S. trade deficit, Treasury market dysfunction and the role of the central bank, the economic recovery from the COVID pandemic, and America’s housing affordability crisis.
