Good afternoon,

Monday, July 6 will go down as another significant date as Northern Ireland continued its path out of lockdown.

Of all the things that we have been missing during lockdown (and there have been many!), getting a haircut will be top of many people’s list. The wait finally ended for many on Monday as hairdressers across the Province reopened, with one Belfast barber choosing to do so at midnight.

Many people have of course been forced to postpone their weddings because of the coronavirus restrictions but Arlene Foster announced that nuptials can resume in Northern Ireland from this Friday (July 10).  According to Mrs Foster, numbers attending any marriage ceremony will be determined by the venue on a risk assessed basis. This news will be of enormous relief to couples who have been looking forward to tying the knot.

Northern Ireland has once again recorded no new deaths related to Covid-19 over the last 24 hours. However, the Department of Health has confirmed that nine new cases of Covid-19 have been diagnosed in the Province.

Encouragingly, according to the statistics, there are no patients with COVID-19 in Northern Ireland’s intensive care units.

Stay safe.
