Good afternoon! It's Monday, May 29, and today's headlines include a roundup of sacred songs in honor of Memorial Day, the Federal Trade Commission's investigation of the U.S. baby formula shortage, and a selection of pieces from CP Voices.
Memorial Day is a solemn holiday in the United States in which Americans are called to remember those who fought and died in the service of this nation. While it does not have specific music tied to it as do other holidays such as Christmas, there are a number of religious and patriotic songs associated with the day. Here's our list of seven songs associated with Memorial Day.

The Federal Trade Commission has launched an inquiry into the baby formula shortages that began last year and has issued a call for public comments on several topics relevant to the shortages, including scams and details from those who might have been forced to pay an "exorbitant price" for formula online. Michael Catt, the retired pastor of Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany, Ga., has elected not to continue cancer treatments as his health worsens, leaving him with only a few months "this side of Heaven," his family announced on Twitter. Catt, who helped to produce the Christian films "Firepoorf" and "Courageous," has been battling prostate cancer. Read more.
Crossroads Cowboy Church in Bismarck, Ark., is grieving the loss of a pastor's two daughters after the family's vehicle was hit by an oncoming train. Pastor Chad Fryar and his son, Bo Henry, survived the accident and are being treated for their injuries. However, the pastor's daughters, Marlee Jo and Dana Kate, did not survive the accident. Fryar's wife, Rachel, was at home at the time. Read more.

Australian Dr. Kenneth Elliott, 88, has been freed after enduring seven years of captivity in West Africa. The doctor and his wife were kidnapped in Faso by al Qaeda-affiliated jihadists in January 2016, but his wife was set free three weeks later. The couple provided free medical services at a 120-bed clinic they managed in Djibo since 1972 prior to their kidnapping. Read more.

The United Methodist Church's Louisana Annual Conference voted to approve the disaffiliation votes of 95 congregations last weekend, with the disaffiliations going into effect on Wednesday. The churches are among the hundreds of others nationwide that have left the UMC amid the denomination's schism over homosexuality. Read more.
