March 30, 2022

Just days after the Minneapolis teachers strike was settled, the district’s superintendent says he’s leaving this summer.

Ed Graff has informed the school board that he won’t be extending or renewing his contract with the district, where he’s been superintendent since being hired in 2016. He was hired from Alaska, after two previous superintendent searches failed.

The board voted to offer him an extension last fall, but the deal hasn’t been finalized. His move comes just days after classes resumed following a bruising strike with teachers and support staff.

His letter to the board about his plans say only that he has "chosen to pursue other opportunities at this time." His letter does not mention the strike.
