Cold, sharp winds and rain ushered in the month of May last night in New York, in the land of lockdown and what’s up, reminding DPC of a flight he was once on returning to the Big Town.

The late, great John Foreman sets his eyes and his camera on a refugee from the Gilded Age — Stone House Hill House of Ames family in North Easton, Massachusetts built in 1905 by 29-year-old Frederick Lothrop Ames a year after his marriage to New York Society belle Edith Callender Cryder.

Stories of men and mice and the price of the cake; and remembering the night at Birdland when Bucky Pizzarelli made a guest appearance with his seven string guitar and his son accompanying. Good times and great times take the cake.
