Support for Family After Pregnant Mom Crash Tragedy
Bisnar Chase is standing with a devastated family after a mom and her unborn baby were killed in a tragic DUI crash. Krystil Kincaid, 29, was almost nine months pregnant with unborn daughter Avalynn when her vehicle was hit head-on by another car. The incident happened in Hemet in September. Pro boxer Marcos Forestal is alleged to have caused the crash, and has been charged with gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. He is suspected of drunk driving and speeding at the time of the crash. Krystil’s heartbroken husband Zach Kincaid is on a mission to hold the culprit responsible. The maximum sentence that the driver of the other vehicle can receive in this case is 10 years in prison, because California law does not recognize unborn Avalynn as a person. Father-of-four Zach wants to see the law changed, and is urging Californians to sign his online petition at Change.org. The page already has nearly 180,000 signatures. The Kincaid family will be represented by Bisnar Chase as they fight for justice. Brian Chase, senior partner at Bisnar Chase, said the Kincaid family is fighting for all Californians who have suffered devastating losses like this. "For the law not to consider a 36-week-old fully-developed child 'a person' here is simply heartbreaking," he added. "We fully support Zach Kincaid and his family as they mount this noble fight for justice while at the same time having to contend with their terrible loss." Read more.
Yahoo to Pay Out $50M to Hacking Victims
In one of the largest class action settlements in U.S. history, internet giant Yahoo has agreed to pay $50 million to victims of a massive security breach. The breach is estimated to have hit up to 200 million U.S. consumers and about 3 billion email accounts across the globe. According to Techcrunch.com, this major settlement agreement is the culmination of a two-year lawsuit. The lawsuit is a result of a major hacking incident which saw emails and passwords stolen. Yahoo estimated that close to three billion accounts were affected by a series of data breaches, beginning in 2013. The hacks are suspected to have been a state-sponsored attack by Russia, though these claims are unconfirmed. Details of the Settlement Yahoo – which is now part of Verizon’s Oath business – will pay $50 million in compensation, which will be divided between 200 million users in the United States and Israel. The company will also cover up to $35 million in attorney fees relating to the case and provide affected customers in the U.S. with credit monitoring. Businesses can also claim costs for losses linked to the hacks.
