Inaugural student pitch competition accepting entries

More than $10,000 in cash prizes is up for grabs in SC Innovates 2020, open to students enrolled in at least one credit course this fall at state college or university. Ideas will be developed using an online innovation platform. 

Richland County receives $500,000 to fight drug abuse

The funds are part of $2.5 million distributed to South Carolina by the Justice Department. Three other S.C. counties and the South Carolina Department of Public Safety also received grants as part of nationwide funding.

Work to begin at Village at Sandhill intersection

New left-turn signals are being installed at the Northeast Columbia intersection, and traffic signal timing is being updated. The project, expected to take several weeks, will begin on or around Nov. 2. 

dd's Discounts opening new Columbia store

The division of Ross Stores will open its third S.C. location at the corner of Decker Boulevard and Trenholm Road on Saturday. The 22,000-square-foot store is the 270th dd’s Discounts location nationwide.
