Hi John,

The Indian government has announced a partial cutting of ties with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and has increased funds to its own immunisation programmes, due to the foundation’s acknowledged ties to the pharmaceutical industry.

Internet service provider MyRepublic has dismissed as "bullshit" a statement by NBN Co Chief executive Bill Morrow that Australians do not want super-fast broadband and would not take it up even if it was offered free.

Foxtel has chosen not to take legal action against two men who illegally streamed the Danny Green v Anthony Mundine fight live on Facebook on 3 February, choosing instead to give them a rap over the knuckles and force publication of a formal apology.

When will Australia's chances of getting a decent broadband — as opposed to fraudband — network improve? When the government's neoliberal thinking that every public project must yield a profit from day one is set aside, says Sam Varghese.

Meanwhile, NBN Co, the company building Australia's national broadband network, has placed a $28 million order with NetComm Wireless for the supply of distribution point units as part of its rollout of the fibre to the curb component of the network.

NEC has been awarded a three-year contract to deliver wireless backhaul technology, professional services, network management systems and ongoing support to New South Wales Government essential services agencies.
