Metrofile has finally revealed its suitor three months after alerting shareholders to an unsolicited approach to take the company private. It made the announcement after the market closed yesterday. While its shares have risen strongly since its first cautionary announcement, the potential offer still comes at a big premium. That could result in another jump today. Meanwhile, Naspers subsidiary Prosus has increased the premium it's willing to pay to buy UK food delivery group Just Eat. However, since it first indicated its interest, Just Eat's shares have rallied and are now trading above the improved offer, which means shareholders may be expecting even more. In other dealmaking news, Conduit Capital is swapping its Constantia insurance business for a stake in Trustco's financial services operation, Legal Shield Holdings. And Stadio has bought out the remaining 26% stake in Southern Business School as CEO Chris van der Merwe prepares to step down after leading the tertiary education group though its unbundling from Curro and listing it on the JSE two years ago. In The Week Ahead, Chris Gilmour looks back at some of the news that has shaped the markets over the past week and what to looking out for in the days ahead. Yesterday, we included access to Ingham Analytics latest report on Prosus. While the consumer internet company tries to gobble up more food delivery businesses, Ingham Analytics has also turned its attention to Baidu, China's answer to Google. You can get hold of that report in today's newsletter. Finally, if you've heard about the Golden Visa and want to know how they are obtained, here's an investment opportunity that will get you one while diversifying your portfolio with offshore exposure. One of the asset classes many are looking at is offshore real estate, which in some cases is made all the more attractive by the bonus of a 'Plan B' residency programme. Portugal's Golden Visa programme will get you residency in a country that has the additional advantages of a great climate, a well-run, business-friendly government, and one of Europe's top-performing property markets.
